This is a Happy Hour specific review. At Eldorado with a group of about 10, including Madtown Review Crew members, we worked through the appetizer menu and quite a number of margaritas.
Here's a rundown of the appetizers in order of general acclaim:
A to A+ Texas Torpedos: Great combination of flavors
A Maria's Handmade tamales: moist, tender, good balance of masa vs. fillings
A to B+ Veggie & Goat Cheese Empanadas: Delightful texture; interesting flavor
A to B Southwestern Fish Cakes: "Spicy"; "too fishy"; a far cry from crabcakes!
2B's 1A BBQ Pulled Pork Sliders "too much smoke" "very sweet BBQ flavor"
And the margaritas?
B+ world famous Eldorado Margarita (consistent score among raters)
A+ to B- Blazing Saddle - from odd/spicy to rich/mellow blend of flavors
C mango margarita "was better before"
Overall? AGREAT happy hour - - those appetizers are distinctive and interesting - - real variety in the product and presentation - - and at happy hour prices you cannot go wrong. The margies are good value at $5, well made, and very satisfying. This is a top-of-the line happy hour spot.
