  • I have been taking my animals to Dr. Barney for 20 years. When I moved away from Lakewood, I still make a 20 minute drive to bring my animals back to him as he is, by far, the best vet in the area and his staff is caring, considerate, helpful and always willing to accommodate even a suspected emergency on the schedule. There have been plenty of times over the years when I have called and was unsure whether my pet was having a serious problem or could wait and they would shuffle things, ask the doctor to stay late, or otherwise squeeze them in. Dr. Barney has provided care for 4 of my cats and two of my dogs and their care has been outstanding. He is always available to answer questions, even when his staff tries to shelter him from them. He calls at home after any treatment, procedure or test to update us or check on my animal's condition. I am sad that he is approaching retirement and do hope that he retires after my animals do because I don't know who I would have see them in his absence. Additionally, it is touching that he has donated so much of his time to caring for animals at the various local shelters.
