We went to The Peculiar Rabbit on a Sunday evening around 7:30. There weren't very many people in the restaurant so we would have expected much better service.
We were sat in one of the small back rooms with an unstable table, which we didn't notice until our beers started sliding. Our waiter asked if we were ready to order not long after we sat down so we asked for one minute. We subsequently waited a long time until we had to flag down our waiter to order.
We ordered the poutine fries and pretzels as an appetizer with the short rib grilled cheese as an entree. After waiting 20 minutes, the short ribs grilled cheese entree came out. The creamed corn side was cold which had me concerned about the state of the appetizers we still hadn't received. After I had flagged down our waiter again, I had to ask him to check on our appetizers.
Luckily the appetizers were warmer and had more flavor than the entree. The pretzels with the beer cheese were good. The fries were also pretty good (especially after we added the beer cheese from the pretzels since there wasn't much cheese on them originally).
All in all, our opinion of the restaurant would probably be very different if the service wasn't so bad. I'd give them leeway if it was a busy night, but on a dead Sunday evening, I'd expect better.
