| - I'm the type of person who gets a haircut once a year, or once every two years. Having curly hair I got away with it for a long time. After a while my hair stopped curling and turned straight at the ends, I knew it was time to get my hair chopped off. After doing my research (Thanks Yelp!) I decided to venture out of suburbia and take a shot with Parlour Salon. After calling in, the receptionist recommended Alysha for cutting curly hair.
Alysha was not super chatty, nor was she quiet, kinda the way I like it. I could tell that she was doing a thorough job on my hair. She went through each individual curl and cut it in the direction the curl went. Never once has any other hair dresser done this before. I was impressed. Alysha told me I had the option of coming in on a later date in case she missed any pieces, however living in suburbia this was not easy for me. Instead, after the cut, she brushed out all my curls and went through it again. Two weeks later and I'm still enjoying my hair cut.
Wash and style. The wash was good! The person washing my hair gave me a head massage which I did enjoy. Styling on the other hand, I hated it. I did not have the heart to say anything either, because she did put a lot of time and effort into styling my curly hair, but it just did not work with my type of curl. I love having volume and big hair, however, I felt as if my hair was flat and boring. Not a big deal since I was heading home afterwards. Leaving the salon I shook out my curls and went on my merry way.
With the student discount I paid around 75 with tip. For someone who gets their hair cut once a year, I don't mind dishing the money, and Alysha's cut was worth every penny.
