VERY sweet.
I need to go back to try out their gelato and chocolates - so I reserve the right to change my review. However, on the dipped soft serve ice creams I have a comment. It's way too sweet. I chose the dark chocolate dip with hazelnuts in anticipation of overly sweet milk chocolate.
So what does this mean? It means to me that they're using more than just sugar to sweeten their chocolate. I've been to plenty of chocolatiers and the intense flavor of chocolate can be incredible when just right but this is a sugar shack. Everything from the soft serve to the dipping was too sweet to taste what I was eating.
Flavors tried:
- vanilla & strawberry soft serve
- dark chocolate & hazelnut dip, maple vanilla white chocolate dip, milk chocolate dip (c/o my sons)
My 6 year old broke off the chocolate dip and only ate his soft serve. My younger son followed suit after not being able to break through the thick chocolate coating.
I was a bit disappointed having expected something more elegant.
My prediction - this will be the 'flavor of the summer'... and then people will return to the tried tested and true places like Baskin Robbins and Dairy Queen.
What would have me coming back to this place - is if the gelato and the actual chocolates turn out to be more than just bundles of sugar. Intense flavor is more important than sweetness.
So if you LOVE sugar and sweet things - this place is for you. Me - I'll stick to more pure chocolatiers.
