  • Fright Dome? More like FRUSTRATION DOME. First, lets get the prices and hours out of the way. Regular admission is $39.95. With a front of the line fast pass it is 20 dollars more. There is a VIP pass for $89.95 per person which means that you are assigned your own guide as they hold your hand through the thing. The hours are 7 pm to 12 am. Refer to their website (www.frightdome.com) for the days they are open for its different every year. Now for the experience errrr frustration part. I had (2) 2 for 1 vouchers so it was only 80 bucks for my family of 4. I still feel like I got ripped off though. I should have known right away how lame it was gonna be as soon as you are searched by security at the entrance. Since they had the loudspeakers placed literally right next to entrance, you could not hear a damn thing that the security guys were telling you. Once you get passed that, it didnt matter whether you made a left or a right because they had smoke machines and strobe lights everywhere. First stop we decided to go on one of the motion simulators that featured "Happy Feet" during the Adventure Dome hours. This show they had what was called "The Haunted Forest". So we wait about 45 minutes to watch a 5 minute motion ride from hell. At first I thought we needed 3D glasses to watch it because the video we were watching was so blurry. There was nothing scary about it at all. Supposedly we go through a haunted forest only to run into monsters and ghosts. The graphics seemed like the ones you would see if you played the video game, "The House Of The Dead". Next stop we got in line to the "Killer Clowns" 4D Maze. The wait was about an hour an 15 minutes. After finally going through that maze I was very disappointed. Not only was it poorly designed, but the actual scare characters were not all that scary and it seemed like they werent trying at all. One section we came up on a couple of clown chicks just talking to each other like it was their break time or something. After that maze we decided to ride El Loco. Great. Another hour wait. The ride itself is pretty cool especially in the dark. This definitely did not disappoint. By the time we got off the roller coaster, It was a little after 10 pm, meaning that we only had 2 more hours to try and get through some more mazes and/or rides. Since there were a total of 5 mazes (6 if you count the Isolation one but thats only if you got the fastpass or VIP) we wanted to check out the headlining one which was the Texas Chainsaw Massacre theme. We got to the end of the line where there was an employee to tell us where to line up. At this time is when she told us that the approximate wait time was 90 minutes. Say what? Now this was the last straw, we decided to just ride the swinging ship and bumper cars since there was hardly any lines for those. Im sad to say that we actually had more fun on those things then what we have done so far. After that we just decided to go home because it was a little bit after 11 pm and the mild headache I had since after the first stop had gotten stronger. Overall, wait times are horrible especially given the fact that you have only 5 hours to try and get to everything. All the strobe lights and smoke can really get to you because it messes with your eyes which eventually leads to a headache. Most, if not all of the scare characters did not even make me flinch. My 10 year old son didnt seem to be scared at all. This is when I think of that drive to Southern California to go to Knott's Scary Farm is definitely worth the time and money to invest in. The only "Fright" here is the fact that you paid money for terrible entertainment. If you refer to my pic, there are no refunds. Yelp 2014 365 Review Challenge #189
