My first visit here made me a little bit uneasy as I felt like I was being put through an assembly line. The nurses and front desk staff were lacking personality and seemed more concerned with the amount of patients seen per hour as oppose to caring for the actual needs of the individual patient.
DR Farber seemed very intelligent and experienced, his flashy rolex and quick wit gave me the feeling that he had done this a million times before, which is the only reason i stuck around.
After my $300 consultation and X-rays I stayed with my original plan of holding out until my insurance kicks in to have my wisdom teeth removed, as I was 4 months away and would ultimately save $3000 since they were not bothering me. I told them this before my original consultation, during, and after. I received several calls in the weeks following to set up my surgery although I told them each time I was not planning to have or schedule anything until my insurance kicked in. I felt like I had given a used car lot my phone number.
I had an inquiry regarding my surgery several weeks later that pertained to what I would consider very personal private information. I called to inquire and asked what their normal procedure would be or precautions I should take but did not want to provide my name because I did not feel comfortable. The nurse refused to provide me with any information or solutions without providing my name, even though my inquiry was completely general and would not have had anything to do with my personal file or information. This made me feel very uncomfortable as this was information I did not feel I should be required to provide to a minimum wage secretary with a bad attitude. I asked what information she would be able to provide or if there was a doctor I could speak too whom I would feel more comfortable sharing my name and information with, to which she refused and was extremely short and rude to me. I felt although I was a student getting in trouble at school she was so condescending and poorly mannered.
This experience had proven my previous feelings to be correct and I will be taking my business elsewhere. Just because you are referred in patients does not make it acceptable to treat them poorly. Ultimately you are still a business that without the customer could not survive. There are plenty of other options out there for these services.
