| - I'll be honest. I was talking to my brother about how OC is blowing up and even the strangest shops are getting in on the action. One being, Johnnyville Slugger. I mean, c'mon...a whole store front just to sell expensive bats? Puh-leassee.
Well...then I actually stopped in. It's a wonderland of "man cave" and passion! John, the owner (ahem, Johnnyville himself!) is quite the talker and is happy to show you around the place. We walked by the artist putting up a mural of the city on the wall, some bikini clad posters on the wall, framed baseball heroes, lots of pallets of wood and some absolutely amazing bats!
John gets his pallets in from...oh, somewhere. I drank a couple of Christmas ales, so this is the blurry part. Anyway, they're high quality and he does everything himself. He was making a bunch of bats for groomsman gifts when we stopped in. He can put anything on a bat. Like, let's say, a Michigan State spartan, my dads signature and something along the lines of "Merry Christmas, Dad"*.
These are awesome gifts and John is an awesome guy! I walked away wanting a bat and my brother walked away wanting his job! We're both excited for his business and hey, this guy signed a 30 year lease so he's pretty excited too!
**No worries, my dad doesn't Yelp.
