I joined Arizona State Credit Union about 10 years ago because I was a state employee and I've always heard good things about credit unions. Unfortunately, I've never had particularly good service from this one. The Tempe location's ATM is consistently down. I've tried countless times to make deposits only to find that it's not working and since it's after hours, you're out of luck. I've had I don't know how many overdrafts because of this and while I've managed to get them reversed when explaining the situation, it's still a hassle to spend time calling them to explain that the issue is with their ATM not working. Repeatedly.
I had so many issues with this that I finally transferred all my automatic payments and billing to a different bank and because I'm not depositing as much money every payday, or using my debit card as often, I'm now getting a "check maintenance fee" for the pleasure of keeping a little of my money in their credit union. I don't really see why I should pay them for an account I rarely use because they make it difficult to use. I have another credit union through my current employer and they offer all the service I ask for without taking any additional fees from me. So as soon as my automatic payroll deposits transfer away from OneAz, I'll be closing my account.
There are a ton of options for credit unions and standard banks in this state, why use one that can't keep their systems working and then charge you money on top of it?
