| - About a 2-2.5: Landry & Filles is a food truck/brick-and-mortar establishment that is located in the Plateau Mont-Royal neighborhood, boasting a cuisine that is a modern take on 'grandma-infused cooking.' I was super excited to try this place out, as the pictures on their website were absolutely adorable - it was even more so in real life! The menu is not too extensive, offering items such as Smoked Mussels, Beets, Goat Cheese and Sumach dish, Lemon & Herbs chicken, etc. The hubs and I came here earlier, as I had assumed there would be a huge line. However, we were the only patrons dining in during our experience. We had ordered the Zucchinis Frits au Parmesan & Mayonnaise au Cari (parmesan fried zucchinis with a cup of curry mayo; the batter was more sweet, and the curry mayo wasn't too strong, but we weren't fans of how it was the dipping sauce of choice for these fried zucchinis); the Ploye au Gravlax de Saumon, Salade de Fenouil & Capres, Oeuf Cuit dur Fromage a la Creme & Caviar (ploye with salmon gravlax, sliced fennel and capers salad, slab of cream cheese, sliced hard-boiled egg, and some dash of caviar - this was pretty good, as it was a thin pancake topped with a thick smear of cream cheese (not too spreadable), fresh smoked salmon, and wonderfully thin-sliced hardboiled eggs; I was not a fan of the fennel salad, as it was too licorice-y); 2 morceaux de Poulet Frit (2 pieces of the fried chicken; this had a sweeter cheese-like crunch to it, but there were herbs stuffed under the skin which I was not a fan of the taste); the 1/2 Poulet Roti, Citron & Fines Herbes (lemon & herbs roasted chicken; again, I was not a fan of the combination of the herbs that were used and didn't really taste the lemon); Salade du Chou, Sauce Milles-Iles (coleslaw with Thousand Islands Dressing - this was crunchy and tasty); Chou de Bruxells, Arachides & Chili (brussels sprouts with peanut halves and chili peppers - with a kick); Purees de Pommes de Terre (mashed potatoes - basic and simple); Rutabaga au Parmesan (sweet turnip with parmesan; the turnips were glazed and sweet, and there were additions of parm crisps; I didn't understand the combination of the two); and, the Brocolis Frits Style Cesar (Caesar fried broccolis, these were pretty delicious; flash-fried with a Caesar dressing, these were slightly heavy, but not too thick, and it wasn't that salty). A side of gravy was also ordered, which was great with the mashed potatoes and for the sides (not for the chicken). I did request them to serve the items on a metal tray, as I wanted how it looked featured on a magazine article, and the fact that we ordered way more than the usual party :P This was happily-obliged, which I appreciated! For drinks, the hubs had a mocktail of Le Marmelade (marme;ade, ginger ale, citron frais, and spices; this had a very syrupy-sweet taste to it, thicker, and ginger-like; I wasn't a fan of this), and I had their Limonade Maison a la Fraise (homemade strawberry lemonade, with a hint of some type of an anise). Service was super friendly, especially Ms. Landry, who gave us details on the restaurant. They change their menu often, so I would like to see their other offerings the next time. I'm glad I was able to check this place out!
