| - Is this review for you? If you are a yoga beginner, not sure which yoga studio to go to, or if you are just curious about modo yoga - this review is for you!
Three things about me - I like hot yoga, I like to try different things (and places!), and I don't like to make commitments or having memberships.
I discovered Modo yoga on Instagram. I saw that they were doing a 30 day challenge and thought it would be perfect for me. I was going through a lot of things in my life and wanted to get back into hot yoga! I wanted to try a new studio also, so I went in and signed up for the challenge! Two things about me crossed off that list!
The studio is absolutely clean! You take off your shoes as soon as you get in. I'm usually very skeptical walking without shoes in places I don't know. But they use green cleaning products and keep the floors sweat and dirt free. The restroom has lockers and cubbies. You can rent a locker with an exchange of your keys. But it's still safe to leave your stuff in a cubby. They don't have any paper towels, but hand towels that they wash and reuse which is great! The showers are the water fall shower heads and is stocked with body wash.
Right before you enter, there are blocks and straps for your practice to take in with you. When you enter, there is a cup of poker chips. You take one with you for hands on adjustments from the yoga teachers. The heat in the room is bearable! Always a question when it comes to hot yoga - how do you handle the heat? There are fans in the room and the teachers turn them on once in awhile. It gets to about 103 - I lost focus one day in class and looked at the thermostat instead of focusing!
The teachers I see on the daily are Kirk and JP. They have gotten to know who I am and greet me every time I walk in. JP is great if you are a beginner! He gives adjustments for people with sore backs or bad knees. Kirk is awesome also if you are a beginner, but if you've taken a couple modo classes, you begin to push yourself with him! I've been to multiple studios and I've never liked my teachers as much as I like JP and Kirk!
I'm on day 25 and I would absolutely recommend modo yoga to any person who is curious about hot yoga or want to be better at yoga! Now it comes to commitment . Like I said earlier, I've been to many studios and I like to try new places. I have two more studios I want to try. But even before I try these other studios, I've made up my mind that I'm going to make a commitment to being a member of Modo Yoga! :) worth it.
