  • I am a huge Sephora customer and frequently coming for mini-makeovers and full 45 minute custom make overs. In general the artists are fantastic, asking what I want, any products I love/want to try and especially asking what I am wearing/ what colors I love. I came here for a mini makeover with a friend and we both wanted smoky eyes. In the past, it would basically be like a custom make over but just focused on one particular area eg eyes, contour, lips etc. Today I was told the artist would do one eye and I would have to do the other one as it is their new policy. The artist did not even ASK me regarding my color preference and and made it completely black. She did about 500 different steps which I tried to remember but is extremely difficult when your eyes are CLOSED. She then finished, gave me a quick blurb on what colors and brushes to use and went over to my friend. I was completely LOST and left on my own. I had to keep asking at every step, not even knowing if I was moving the brush correctly Spoiler: I wasn't. In short I felt completely stupid. I actually just wanted to wipe off my other eye and leave. She then did my friend and left her in the same predicament and in my friends case, actually left her alone. This is the worlds stupidest policy. If you are going to make your mini makeovers a tutorial then call it what it is. It's not a mini make over anymore. Furthermore if you are going to do a tutorial STAY WITH THE CLIENT so they actually have a chance of replicating what you just did. OR at least do one step and allow the client to repeat it on the other eye at the same time so you don't end up with completely different eyes. This was my absolute worst experience ever at a Sephora. I can guarantee I will never return to this location. Worst customer service, but also Sephora needs to tweak this new policy to make it more realistic.
