| - Furniture Lounge is one of this town's saving graces, selling wonderful vintage clothes, fun tchotskes and decor, and great mid-century furnishings at entirely reasonable prices. I've been frequenting the downtown Champaign store since I moved to town and have totally scored on almost every occasion -- whether on dead-stock sunglasses, hot tweed pencil skirts, an amazing bent-iron "atomic" lamp, or a Paul McCob desk in fabulous condition. I love the lay-out, too, with its slightly-overwhelming-but-mostly-stimulating aesthetic; there's always something to catch the eye just around the vintage Schlitz's beer mug, or the big, round orange sofa. The selection changes often enough to keep it always interesting!
Owners Scott and Amanda have also opened a new store in downtown Urbana on Main, right next to Mirabella's, which focuses on home furnishings (with some jewelry in the case by the register). The space is huge (well, long) and filled with great pieces in a less hectic fashion than in their original store (which carries less furniture now).
