  • Charlie Chaplin stumbling around, being clumsy making dough. Walking up to this cute and quaint restaurant, I noticed they're playing silent old flicks on one of the patio walls via projector. The ambiance is really sweet, romantic. I'm not sure if it's valet only, but when you pull into the parking lot they do offer free valet if eating in the restaurant. It was pretty busy for a Wednesday night. My date and I were seated at a small table in the middle of the restaurant. We noticed a heavy, chilly draft coming from the two glass doors that were open to the patio. Upon sitting down, we realize it's a bit too much so my date asks the hostess Kaitlyn (sp.) if we could be moved or if something could be done about it. No apologies were made at this time and all she said was it would be another 20-25 minutes of a wait in order to be moved. My date and I were pretty hungry, as it was around 7PM already by this time so we decided to stay put (not very happy about it tho). Ryan was our server. He noticed how cold I looked and said sorry, that he'll try and make the experience more enjoyable with his service. He recommended some food items, said their Moroccan Meatballs were featured on a Food Network show. They also have drinks on their list that are made in Arizona, as well as out, but I thought that was pretty cool. We order the Goat Cheese appetizer, which was pretty good. We proceeded to order the Moroccan Meatballs and the Forbidden Rice Bowl. It took the usual time to come out, didn't have to wait long. In the meantime, my date and I are trying to stay distracted due to the chilly breeze coming through... noticing the table next to us is feeling the same thing. The entrees we ordered are pretty good. The meatballs weren't amazing, they were definitely different, but not as up to the hype as I expected. The Forbidden Rice Bowl is a dish to try - it tasted a bit too saucy though, but otherwise good. Water took a little bit to get refilled a few times, my date sat with an empty glass for about 15 minutes at one point.... Tsk tsk. Halfway through the meal, a female server closes one of the glass doors to the patio that stops the chilly draft coming through. Of course we're already almost finished and the dining room is starting to clear out a bit, so damage was already done. My date and I both couldn't finish our meals, so we asked for boxes. Ryan boxes them up for us and I notice him and another employee smirking to each other while placing my little bit of rice into the to-go box..... Not sure what that was about, but okay. So I don't want to waste forbidden rice.... Why does that call for a smirk face?! All in all, I give the food 4 Stars, the service started out good but towards the end not so great therefore I give 3 Stars total. I don't think I plan on going back to try this place again.
