| - I initially heard about Orange Theory Fitness on the radio but tried it for the first time when there was a Yelp Elite event a couple months ago. I loved how I felt after my first class - my legs burned, it hurt to lift my water bottle to my face, I was physically exhausted.
I had a feeling that I can't get on my own at the gym. No matter how great my intentions are, I just can't seem to push myself to the point of breaking.
At Orange Theory there isn't someone yelling in your face to push it harder, but it's expected that you're going to keep up with the class. You're not going to lower the resistance on the treadmill until you're told to. You're going to do all the reps with the weights. You're going to hustle back and forth between the weights and the rowers. It's almost like peer pressure to push yourself. But, hey, whatever it takes right?
When I heard they were opening an OTF near my house, it got me thinking about how much I loved that workout. So I called to find out how much the pre-sale rates were going to be. I talked to Dane for quite a while about my goals and what I did/didn't like about my initial experience at OTF. He convinced me to sign up but to head up to Happy Valley for a free class, if I loved it...GREAT, If not, then just give him a call back before the studio opens and he'll cancel my membership. That seemed like a fair enough deal.
I went up to Happy Valley last Friday and loved it, come Sunday morning, it still hurt to sit and I regretted living in a three story townhouse.
Over the weekend they were offering preview sessions for non-members and members if they brought a non-member with them. Well unfortunately my guest had something come up at the last min so I went anyway, I was already in workout clothes, what was I supposed to do? So yesterday I went for my first workout at this studio and loved it. The instructor was very upbeat and friendly.
I wish they were opening the studio sooner than Dec 4th, I'm going on a cruise in January and have a lot of work to do in the next 59 days.
While the price is not what I want to pay monthly on top of my other gym membership, I am getting a workout I can not get on my own which seems invaluable.
