rev:text	I have been waiting for this brewery to open for close to 2 years. I first encountered them at one of the beer fests a few years ago. So I've been following them for a while. I was already in NoDa when a friend texted me that Free Range was opening at 5pm on July 3rd, 2015 so I was right there when they opened. The brewery is probably the smallest in Charlotte. Unlike most breweries in CLT, the brewing equipment and the taproom share the same space and there is no real separation except for a sign on a chain. Still this is a well planned space. As you enter, the brewing equipment is on the left and the bar next. Table seating is on your right. There is also a kids area just beyond the bar. This is the first time I've seen a kids area at a brewery. Maybe this will keep them off of the bar seats? Anyway, I sat at the bar, looked over the menu and started with the Oyster Stout which was good but not as good as the Bob's Pure Intentions Coffee brown ale which was amazing and what I stuck to for the rest of my stay. The staff was great although a bit scattered at times. There were 6 people working behind the bar and they often ignored people sitting at the middle of the bar which is where I was But thankfully I was siting near people who knew the owners and they would flag people down. I chalk this up to opening day chaos. This visit was worth the wait. And the best thing is this place is across the street from NoDa brewing....or at least what will become NoDa's second location very soon. I see this brewery becoming very popular.
