| - I should have read the previous reviews before going...at best, it seems this place is INCONSISTENT...some seem to say the pies taste bland, while others say the opposite.
I was excited when I first drove by this place, and hugely disappointed when I finally tried their pies. As DH and I like to support local and/or Canadian business as much as possible, we were eager to purchase, so we walked in and got 4 of the little pies at $6 each (!!), two were meat/chicken and two were veg...we then hurried home in excitement and heated them up, eagerly awaiting the pastry deliciousness that was promised. Instead, what we got was so oversalted that we struggled to eat even half the pie...that was the first two, so we moved onto the other two - samething...and the crust! Ahh! If you are going to call yourself 'Great Canadian' and your main product is PIE, you need to at least use an all-butter homemade crust - our pie's crusts were undoubtedly store-bought puff pastry - not the same thing!
I just came back from Port Perry where I purchased 6 Natural Steak pies from an organic farm - the filling perfectly seasoned, the meat (chunks of steak, not ground chuck) is free range and the pastry is homemade by the family that owns the farm for $22 for all 6!
