Today I had my worst customer service experience since moving to Arizona from Alaska. It should have been a no-brainer - an easy-peasy task. UPS is the shipper for Amazon in this market. Amazon instructs you to visit a UPS Store if you need to return a package. That's exactly what my wife & I did. However, we missed a step & did not provide the UPS agent with all of the data she needed to process the request. However, despite our miss, she accepted the package, issued us a receipt & sent us on our way. The next day we were notified by Amazon that the store was getting ready to put our package "in the trash." When I returned to the store the following day the representative said: "Yep, that's what we said - that's how we get their attention." She then proceeded to provide me with inaccurate directions on what I needed to do. When I returned today to finally get it mailed I was berated by the store manager for not being a better-informed customer. I could not believe what I was hearing. Spare yourself the pain & visit the local US post office. They're actually quite helpful - plus, very friendly. Seems to me like the UPS folks should visit the local US post office for some customer service tips - lordy knows, they could use a lesson or two.
