  • I had visited Dolce years ago as a "model" for a facial class and was impressed by the decor. I then received a gift certificate for a massage and put it aside until I had time to use it. I finally had the perfect opportunity, a girls spa day with my best friend. We scheduled a companion massage and wer asked if we would like to add on a shampoo/style and make up application since they came complimentary with the massage package. When they called to confirm, they reminded us to please arrive 15 minutes early to fill out some paperwork. Upon checking in, we were lead back to the spa waiting area. We were told they would be out to get us for a massage soon. About 5 minutes after our scheduled appointment time, we were greeted by one of the massage therapists who told us they were running a few minutes behind. It was another 10-15 minutes before they finally brought us in to begin our massages. It was well worth the wait. The hour flew by way too fast. We were given a moment to get dressed and then met with ice water and led back to the spa waiting area for the next service. My friend was called almost immediately, while I sat waiting in the spa area for another 25 minutes. I finally asked if they had forgotten about me and it appeared that someone else had taken my appointment and someone would be with me in a moment. It turns out, someone misunderstood what their name was and answered to mine and nobody caught it. I was finally sat with the stylist that had been looking for her "lost client" for the last half hour and she seemed a little irritated. I let her know that I had needed (and brought) a special shampoo because I have a keratin straightening treatment in my hair. She mentioned she had that shampoo in back so no need to take mine out. I apologized for my hair being so oily, as I had just come from a massage. She didn't seem to mind. The shampoo was less than pleasurable. Never once did she ask how the temperature was, didn't really get to the scalp and didnt even work up a lather. I assumed this was just the first shampoo, not to worry. I also have never had a shampoo where the stylist told me I had to turn my head so she could do the sides. After the quick rinse, she applied a conditioner, what? No second shampoo? The conditioner was quickly run through my hair and then rinsed out. She wrapped my head in a towel and led me back to her chair. Meanwhile my hair was dripping wet and was now running down my neck and back. When began wiping my neck with the cape it went unnoticed, although she had so much water running from my hair, she had to throw one on the floor to absorb the puddle that had landed behind the chair. She then chose which products she was going to use, never once asking which I used or preferred. (I use Bumble products myself) and she blew my hair out, only speaking to answer the 2 questions I asked her, but not making any conversation. At the end of my blow out, she never asked if I needed any products for at home, never offered her card or invited me back. In fact, I actually assumed she was new to the salon until she told me she had been doing hair for more than 10 years. Because of the "error" in someone taking my scheduled blow out time, we no longer had time for my make up session, so I did not get to experience that part of my day, which was disappointing as we had a night out planned and very little time left to get ready. We quickly had to check out and go. By the time we got back to our hotel to change, my hair had started to kink up and curl again, only to find that my roots were still wet and dirty oily from the massage oil. So much for the blow out. Hair in a clip was my only option at that point. I would have to say, the experience was less than acceptable for those rates. I felt disappointed by the lack of consideration of others times and the fact that nobody was really apologetic that I sat in back, for so long due to the error. I know how the industry works and I was very surprised that a manager didnt even come over to apologize. I can only assume the less than warm approach by the stylist, was because it was listed as a "comp" on her books. Which in itself is sad, as I gave her every opportunity to try to win me as a client. In fact, her blow out was great, and probably could have lasted longer, with clean hair, but her lack of shampoo and conversation would not bring me back again for the money it would cost in the future.
