| - I think I have a new favorite restaurant in the Valley.
Our party of 5 started off with tapas. I'll try to remember them all: manchego cheese with jamon, pan-fried bacala (cod), garlic sauteed shrimp, mussels in a spicy tomato sauce, and my two favorite: the lamb shanks and a special, which I was sad to learn isn't a mainstay: goat cheese-stuffed dates wrapped in bacon. All were excellent. The wrapped dates may be the single most unique thing I've ever eaten, and they were absolutely delicious. The lamb, even though it "looked" overcooked, was fantastic. Full of flavor, perfectly crusted, and very juicy.
For my entree I got the Valencian paella. Absolutely delicious. The Chistorra made the dish, as it added a perfect smoky flavor.
My fiancee got the chicken paella, which was very similar to mine, just lacking the shellfish. The flavor was "simpler," but just as good in a different way.
I will be back, and frequently. If two people were to stick to a few tapas and then split an order of paella, you could get out of here for relatively cheap and still have a full meal.
Excellent, attentive service, and a great outdoor patio right on the canal.
