| - Once upon a time, this Asian Fusion joint was crammed into a tiny one bedroom residential building, with the dj having to climb a ladder up to the attic to spin records. Now, Fate 905 has arrived. It still has that warm cozy feeling when you step onto its hardwood floors, hear the music drifting in from outside, and are lulled and calmed by the candles burning against clean white walls. What once was the second dining room, has now become a contemporary addition to the once small closet-sized unisex bathroom.
Most nights, this hip Asian eatery has a DJ and trumpet player creating jazzy and funky sounds under the canopied bar outside. As its location puts it in the heart of the Art Walk every First Friday of the month, it is a very popular meeting place for cocktails and good beats.
With its new aesthetic renovation, also came a rejuvination of its previous drink and food menu. Their new chef has worked at Zinc Bistro at Kierland Commons, and The Mission in Old Town Scottsdale. "The menu has been stripped down, and redesigned," says our very knowledgable waiter, Josh Schripsema. Dim sum and house made noodles, are just a couple of the new items people will be seeing on the menu. Once upon a time, I came here just for the thai yellow curry, but even that has changed somewhat on the menu. Overall, the dishes are simple and vegetarian. There are spicy red curries, there are vietnamese spring rolls, sesame, Pad Thai, and their popular crab puffs. A great refreshing drink to sample is The Sake Mojito. Sake replaces the rum and soda water. Wow!!
As for value and quality, I don't feel that the food meets the high expectation generated by the price, as most seem to agree with.
Cons: No happy hour, average cocktail is $12
Pros: offers a late night menu, up to 3a on the weekends. lots of vegetarian items on the menu, great late night atmosphere
