| - My son just started his second year at Vertex and has not had any issues. The apartment complex is large and has many amenities. My son is happy there and it is convenient to ASU.
However, my daughter signed a lease in April and they jumped over backwards to get the contract completed and lock her in. My daughter then was unable to go out to AZ. We were advised that the contract contains a clause that we were still liable for the year lease unless we found someone to take it over. Although it's extreme, we did sign the lease and I understand it.
This is where the problems started. We found someone to take over her lease. Seems like since we were still on the hook for the lease, the office, along with the managers, were not helpful in transferring the lease. Forms would not be sent to the new tenant or they would "lose them" and request that they re-send. As an incentive to the new tenant, we paid for the their first month rent but they credited to a different account. After a few days they credited it to the right account. After several weeks everything was finally completed and approved. So we thought. They then requested that the new tenant print out the application, fill it out by hand and send back. The new tenant was getting frustrated and we were afraid they would back out due to Vertex's ineptness. Finally we were then given verbal confirmation that we were off the lease and no longer responsible. I have requested numerous times that they send me official confirmation stating that we were indeed not obligated anymore. We have yet to receive official confirmation.
We then received an email stating we owed money on the account. I contacted them and after several minutes of checking their records, they advised me that it was sent in error. Again I asked for written confirmation for peace of mind and to make it official, but they have yet to do it.
My daughter later received another email stating that she needed to go into the office because she had "incomplete documentation" that required her attention.
I called and they advised me that it was sent in error. Hey Vertex get your act together. When are you going to get this done.
We were in contact with managers Anthony and Justin, as well as office personnel, and have been given nothing but the run-around. I know I'm going to get the standard reply, "We appreciate your feedback. This is the manager. Please contact me to discuss your concerns."
Don't bother. You guys had several months to address our concerns but have not.
