| - Over the years, I've heard nothing but great things about Vezina from many brides. Naturally, I decided to book an appointment to see what all the fuss was about. I was really excited, but that quickly turned into major disappointment.
First of all, I really don't like their iPad system where you essentially pre-select dresses. I prefer the experience of walking through racks of dresses with a consultant, which is standard procedure (at least at the 3 other salons I went to). Anyway, once that was done, the consultant came in and was very sugary sweet off the bat. Then the owner came in to say hello, and as many other reviewers explained, give a whole schpeel on her store, etc. etc. Then came dress #1. It was very pretty, but not my taste... but that's to be expected! You need to try on a bunch of dresses before you find one you love. Anyway, I nicely explained that I wasn't in love with the style, and would like to try on something different. She then proceeded to pull more dresses that looked exactly the same... I kept my mouth shut and tried them on anyway. I kindly asked yet again to see something else. She wasn't listening and began to get frustrated. Her cheerful disposition turned pretty sour and she got very defensive. She kept saying that I needed to tell her the venue and the date in order to determine the style. Really strange and irrelevant. I just kept my composure because I genuinely wanted to have a good experience. When a bride comes into a store, employees must acknowledge that she might not like the dresses, which is more than ok. That's the name of the game.
When the consultant brought in the 6th and final dress, the brought along the owner who seemed desperate to find something I liked. Again, very strange... she kept going on and on about needing to find "the dress". I was then very transparent about the fact that I was in the process of looking around and the consultant immediately asked me where. Very inappropriate. It's as if she assumed I was 100% going to buy a dress from Vezina. DEFINITELY NOT.
All to say, I was really upset after the appointment and they didn't make me feel comfortable. They shouldn't be in this business if they get defensive over a comment like, "This is really beautiful, but not really my style". I can't imagine how they react when bridezillas stomp into the shop... also, I found the overall quality of the dresses to be cheap and overpriced compared to the other stores I went to. That's just me, though.
Ladies, if you purchased a dress from here, I sincerely hope you enjoy it! But for those who are considering booking an appointment, just be prepared to be treated poorly if you don't find something you like.
