  • I had laser eye surgery several years ago here. I was told I was an excellent candidate for the surgery. For the first month following the surgery I was on a sort of high - it felt amazing to wake up in the morning and not having to deal with glasses or contact lenses. However, I have developed several problems with my vision since the surgery. I must deal with floaters on a near-constant basis (much more than before the surgery). I see halos around all sources of lights (this will never go away, and this never occurred before the surgery), and my astigmatism has gotten worse. My night vision has gotten worse as well and I was recently told that I might have to start wearing glasses again! My eyes are also permanently dry now and I need to consistently apply lubricating drops on them to not be in pain. I never had to deal with that before the surgery. I have to admit that the setup is pretty impressive. There's a giant aquarium and some flatscreens blasting away CNN and nature documentaries while you wait. There are free cookies as well. The surgeons are really nice, but it really is a sort of assembly line version of surgery here. I felt really rushed all the time when dealing with some of the staff, and some of them were a bit impatient with me at times when I asked them questions. I mean, we're only talking about laser eye surgery right? Let's totally rush that procedure as fast as we can while making the client feel uncomfortable. When I learned that I had to put drops in my eyes for the rest of my life, I wasn't very pleased as you might imagine. The optometrist I spoke to was pretty unsympathetic regarding my concerns. Anyway, so I've got 20/20 vision in the day time, only there's a ton of floaters, weird shapes and halos blocking the way half the time, and I have permanently dry eyes that hurt often. I would say I'm not completely satisfied with my experience here. I have to keep coming back here because if I miss even just one of my yearly check-ups I will not be able to get an enhancement procedure without paying a ton of money. So in the end, I'd think it over for a very, very, very long time before getting laser eye surgery, whether it be at Lasik or anywhere else.
