| - I hate the brunch rush. I do not want to wait on a weekend morning (yuck) for my sugar bread and liquor, especially with a dozen other obnoxious brunch goers. This location is small, popular, so you WILL play the brunch game.
I'm fussy about waiting, if you didn't pick that up, so this is a little skewed. The food is five star rating with me, but the actual location (because I know how great it could be) kills it for me. If you don't mind waiting maybe twenty minutes for a table of two on Sunday morning, it's totally fine. A lot of people really like this location over the Park sister spot because it's "cozy"; I think it just seems more frou frou and people in this area love that, of course.
The food is great. I really feel like I could just copy and paste my review from Park Brugge to this; I've tried to compare the food and haven't noticed much difference unfortunately. I will say my prized Park Bruges seems to have a larger selection and better specials (AND SATURDAY BRUNCH!).
Get the mussels unless you don't like mussels, then get the waffles. Fruit topping forever, the chocolate sauce isn't anything to rave about. The lunch here, which you will receive on Saturday afternoon when you want brunch, is not as disappointing as you'd think. Chicken sandwiches are always popular in my groups as well as the fries. Really, no matter what time we go, someone gets the fries.
Personally, the "coziness" of this spot doesn't do it for me. I can't complain about the food or service. Typically a mimosa is a mimosa. However, with Park Bruges about the same distance away, I can't see myself coming here very often other than when we have fussy friends in town, which is currently the case. There isn't anywhere to stand inside and wait either, unless you do the awkward stairs in the way stand which no one appreciates. Do yourself a favor and hit the Highland Park spot.
