I stopped in recently to get the metal band adjusted on my Omega. I called before coming and was told that to do it, their watchmaker would charge me $20. That's fine, I figured that it would be better to have a professional adjust it for me than to mess it up possibly trying to do it on my own.
When I arrived, I realized that there was a watch event going on. They had The Capital Grille cooking out front, there were all the 2015 model watches in stock, and they had an actual watchmaker there. When I went to the service desk, the gentleman took my watch and found a way to adjust it without removing links. This way he wouldn't have to charge me.
After that, he walked out and took me to meet the watchmaker so I could ask him a few questions about my Omega. It isn't one that is seen too often now days and I thought he would get a kick out of seeing one. Anyway, we had a nice conversation about Omega movements and the popularity of the Swiss Valjoux 7750 movement before I departed.
I rarely purchases watches in a store. Normally, I buy them online from other aficionados on reputable websites. But to me, Hyde Park showed itself to be a welcoming and well-stocked jewelry and watch shop. I would definitely stop here first if I was looking for something new or wanted to try on some of the new model watches.
