| - Don't get me wrong, Dr. Letelier does his job. He removed my wisdom teeth, which is what I came in there for. This was about 3 years ago, I believe. HOWEVER, the assistant (not Dr. Letelier) who anesthetized me did not know what he was doing, I feel. Unfortunately, I didn't discover this until I woke up from my surgery. The assistant couldn't find a vein in my arm to place the needle into, so he placed it into my right hand. When I woke up from surgery the front part of that hand was all blue, as if the veins inside had exploded, and the hand itself, as well as the arm attached to it, were swollen as well. Also, there was a hard lump in that wrist, as if that area in particular became aggravated and inflamed. I asked Dr. Letelier what I can do about these things, and he just gave me ibuprofen and assured me that it will all heal in time. He told me the same thing when I had a follow-up appointment with him the following week.
After this, I saw a few doctors, and one of them found a blood clot in my right arm and I had to be prescribed Xarelto because of it. I was only 28 at the time, and had never, ever developed blood clots before this, nor do blood clots or Deep Vein Thrombosis, or anything like that run in my family's medical history. I felt a great amount of pain in my body during this time.
Well, after 3 years, my right hand and arm are STILL somewhat swollen, and that hard lump of inflammation (I'm guessing that's what the lump is) is STILL in my right wrist. The hard lump hasn't subdued much at all. My right hand and wrist get stiff sometimes, and tighten, as if they're not getting enough circulation. I am no longer in pain, and the veins in my wrist reconstructed themselves into small spider veins, but none are large enough to accept blood-drawing needles anymore. I saw general doctors about these issues, but they seem to be dismissive about it, like nothing's wrong. It's SO frustrating. No one seems to know how to treat my problem. Maybe they just don't have good doctors here in Vegas.
I think Dr. Letelier is not really the problem, it's just that he needs TRULY professional assistants. I still cry sometimes whenever I look over at my hand and wrist, and when they start getting stiff/tight.
