  • Moderate!? Ummmm, sure. I guess? I wouldn't know how they rate trails as I am fairly new to this out door activity. Well let's just say I was a young child when my grandma would take us up through the trails in Colorado. So this was pretty strenuous for us. But being the biggest noobs around we actually did it! Even our 6 yr old accomplished it with no crying or whining. He thinks he is a master hiker. He says he is ready for anything! We had heard this would be the perfect time to do this hike due to the weather we have had. We were right! More water than most people had seen there before. Which made it slightly more difficult to hike through without slipping and soaking your feet. I think we all had wet feet at one point during the trek. You don't realize how deep the canyon actually is until you get to the end. A couple of us in our group had done this trail in the past, luckily, because when we actually made it into the canyon we thought it was the end. We all looked at each other with quizzical looks and decided to continue on. Now mind you we had our 6 yr old with us, so I expected at any moment we would be turning around. But we made it to the end and all the way back. I highly recommend this trail, especially around this time of year. We started our hike early morning at 8AM which I also recommend if you can get up that early, because by the time we were coming back down, it was a steady flow of people hiking through. It was chilly, so a light jacket is best because once you come back down it got much warmer. I look forward to many more hikes in Red Rock as we are just beginning and I hope to get a chance to do this one again before it gets too hot out.
