| - This was the first bridal shop I went into. Ever. lol I purchased my gown here, and was quite clear from my initial visit that I was to be out of town for an extended period of time right up to my wedding date, and needed to make sure they could handle alterations within my time frame. I came in for a special (complimentary) appointment with the seamstress to review my dress and what was needed on it, and was assured it would not be a problem to alter.
Flash forward to picking up the dress - it was simply butchered beyond the point of being wearable. There was not one alteration made on it that was done correctly - everything the seamstress touched was wrong and needed to be redone - from taking in the bodice, to cosmetic enhancements, even the hemming was visibly uneven.
I called the owner, Pam, who told me that "wedding gown alterations require finessing of up to 3 tries" and that I had unrealistic expectations for the process, and that I needed to come back a few more time to give the seamstress the chance to work on the dress. Are you kidding me? I spent close to $500 on alterations. I don't think it's unreasonable to expect the work to be well done the first time - I've had clothing altered before, and never seen such a thing. Rather than the owner being contrite and duly embarrassed, she was combative and entirely lacked customer service skills. Frosty is an understatement.
Anyway, I didn't have the time for "finessing of up to 3 tries", so I had to leave my (originally, pre-alterations) beloved dress behind, and find a dress within a day elsewhere (David's Bridal to the rescue, which was a FABULOUS experience from beginning to end!). After my experience at David's, where the staff could not have been MORE compassionate and helpful (and was able to alter the dress properly in ONE fitting), it really made a stark and painful comparison to Almond Tree's lack of service, and lack of skills.
