| - I attended the grand opening and what a gym! Finally, a gym worth writing home about :) They have finally closed the old Eaton Centre South location (that's really tired looking) and moved the operations to this location only a 2 minute walk (200m/650 ft) down the street while the north gym is still in operation. This new spot definitely will be GoodLife's flagship location right in the core to meet the need of the fitness crowd. I got 2 friends to join the new gym, met "Patch" Evans (founder and CEO of GoodLife), saw some current members and we're all looking forward to using this terrific facility. It's a big, bright and well designed 45,000 sq. ft. emporium on 2 levels. Open 24 hours Mondays-Thursday and great hours on weekends too. Plasma TV's everywhere including a lounge with massage chairs... just need a server to bring me a dinner menu :D dang, I could move in and live here :P
An aerobics studio that holds 100 members, spinning studio with 50 bikes, endless number of amazing machines (some that I've not seen before at any other gym), individual TV screens and much more (plus 3 hanging heavy bags for the boxers/kickboxers). The weight room could probably be a bit bigger but it's not really designed for the gorillas so it is sufficient for the typical fitness club member right up to those who can handle 100 lb dumbells. Even the showers are nicer than some condos or hotels, steam and sauna rooms. Your normal user pay stuff like hot yoga (unique latex flooring), a tanning room, and full health spa facility are available.
Glad it's so close to both my home and work but I'll wait a couple of weeks until the euphoria dies down as it will likely be very crowded. Doesn't matter if you're a beginner, fitness buff or die hard, there is something for everyone but maybe not the super hardcore or pros as they'll need more specialized training but for 95% of the masses this is the place to get in or to stay in shape! If you haven't figured it out by now, this is gym heaven for a guy who likes his gym bright, clean and full service facility. If my past experience with GoodLife Fitness Clubs are any indication, their service is pretty decent. Looking forward to using this gym and welcoming any Yelper's to drop in for a tour.
