  • It's a great 2-3 hour hike! I went with 3 kids ranging from 5-9 and they all were able to complete it with no issues. There is a BLM trailer with rangers there to hand out maps and a small parking lot. One of the rangers was even kind enough to offer a guided hike. After talking with them we decided to take the 200 route and then go back through the 100 route so sliding down the rocks wasn't bad at all with the kids. When I say the rocks are slippery I mean it. They are the remains of a dried up waterfall. If you go through the 200 route you can still see the petroglyphs right before the big slippery rocks come up and then go back around. Yes, it's a steep hike but it's not bad. The 5 year old with us had no problems going up it. Keep in mind I was with another adult during this hike, so one of us would slide down first and help the kids slide down. I would not do this alone with kids. If you decide to go through the 100 route the petroglyphs are right after the 11ft boulder. You can take the long route following the electrical posts as some of the older comments have mentioned but you can also take the paved roads to it. The problem is that it's all newly developed so maps aren't able to give street directions to it. There is a lot of construction going on right now so a lot of roads lead to dead ends but keep driving and pass all of it towards the mountains. You will see that there's one road that leads out of it and the trailer with the rangers is on a trail of big electric posts that runs east to west as you head south. FYI dogs are not permitted on the petroglyphs trail but there are other ones where dogs are allowed.
