My daughter recently had a school field trip here to learn about how the Bear was first invented and created (she's in Kindergarten). The place seems kind of deserted from the front, but upon entering there was a very very large bear in the corner and a hallway full of colorful bears. The trip included an understanding of President Theodore Roosevelt and how his love for bears inspired a homemaker to make "Teddy" bears. We also toured the facilities, where we saw how they made the patterns and how they sewed it together to make different combinations of animals, which was weird, but fun for the kids (there was a cow/zebra or a giraffe sewn with an elephant nose and had wings). The kids got to choose from 3 different bears or an elephant to "stuff" and got to take it home. I know this factory has been here forever, but some of the parents and I agree that while we love to support local businesses, I wish it was more like Build-A-Bear. I think they should really improve the building - it will definitely drive in more customers and business.
