  • Come here to see the Praying Mantis (it breathes fire at night) and check out "The Heart Locket"! Location: on the corner of 7th Avenue and Fremont Street in Downtown Las Vegas. I walked from the California Hotel, through Binion's Casino, under the Fremont Street Experience, and down 2 blocks. It took about 10 minutes. I'm glad that I walked in the morning to avoid the heat. There was shade from awnings along the way after the Fremont Street Experience. Parking: metered street parking and a paid parking lot across the street. I parked for free at the California Hotel since I was a guest. Features: about 25 shops and 9 restaurants; the Praying Mantis sculpture; "The Heart Locker" by Nova May; and lots of play area for children! There's a Tree House, Jungle Gym, maybe a climbing tower, a 33 foot slide, and open space! On the weekends, there's live music at the stage area! I want to go back when I have more time and get a photo of the fire breathing Praying Mantis! The shops and restaurants looked good, too! The best thing is that there is no admission fee! Note: the gates don't open until 11am, so don't go too early. ..hahaha!
