As I walked up the stairs into KiwiSpoon I was excited to try the new Froyo place. The atmosphere was casual with people milling around but I was greeted as I walked in. I had to ask for sample cups as they were hidden behind the counter but I think most places do that so free-loaders don't abuse the Froyo yumminess.
It was actually a funny experience because the cashier asked if I had been at Menchies a lot before because she used to work their and recognized me. That is how much I love my froyo! She said herself that she thought this was better than Menchies. I'm still deciding, I'll have to go and try it again and let you guys know (who doesn't want to have an excuse to eat more^_^)
So I tried a couple of flavors but was slightly disappointed by the sorbet/non dairy flavors as I am lactose intolerant. The green apple was a bit too tart for me and the watermelon didn't have as much flavor as I wanted. I ended up mixing very little amounts of strawberry, peach and apple together. It gave me just the right amount of sweetness and tartness that I like.
The fruit toppings were good but the mango bin was just about out and they didn't have anymore, which was a bummer. All the other fruit looked fresh and appetizing though. The counter space for all the toppings was a bit more squished than the other places I frequent for froyo but I enjoyed the mango mochi and toasted coconut the most.
Overall the atmosphere was nice, I have to go back to try the bubble tea because that is something I am very picky about. For the froyo I give it a solid 3.5 while rounding up to 4. It is a lot closer than any of the other Froyo places and the price is pretty good, all of which lead to a pretty good time.
