| - update 6/12/15 - after submitting a complain, Hertz has reimbursed half of my bill.
6/8/15 - I rented a Hertz car because I received an email from Citibank (I have a credit card with them) offering a discount on the next rental.
I usually rent from Enterprise but decided to use the discounted price and rent from Hertz.
Rented a Standard size car at LAS airport for my vacation with my mom to see Zion and Bryce canyons in UT. Got a Chrysler impala with NY plates (I believe it was GMF9404 or GFM 9404) without a remote control, all scratched up (if I was visiting a friend or a family, I would be embarrassed to drive this car), but clean inside and out. At the counter I spoke with an agent thru a phone, no live interaction which could be fine, I guess. Did not receive any paperwork for the car, and none was in the car. I did find the paperwork from the previous renter who drove the car from NY/NJ area to Vegas.
The worst part was on the way back from Bryce I still had over 100mi to drive back to LAS - the Change Oil Soon sign came on, which made us nervous. I don't know anything about this car and what "soon" would mean, 20, 50, 100mi? The company had no right to give me a car that was driven across the country without checking the Engine Oil level first. You put us at risk.
As I have mentioned above, I usually rent from Enterprise, never had a problem like that and when renting a Standard Size car I would get a much newer models, plus their rates are lower. I am sure you can have a bad experience with all car rental companies but for now I will keep using Enterprise.
