Worst experience I have ever had with a moving company. Let me start from the beginning. Chris convinced me that it would be better for me to just rent my own truck instead of his movers bringing their own. On the morning of the move, I go through the hassle of renting my own truck and am all packed and ready to go at 9am when the move was scheduled. At 915 nobody has shown up yet so I start frantically calling Chris over and over to find out where they were with no answer. I spent an hour on the phone trying to hire a different moving company because I was already packed and of course.. Had already spent the money on renting a truck. Finally, Chris calls me back and said that he was sorry he had accidentally left his phone in his trunk (who does that?) but that the guys were outside my gate waiting and had been for quite some time. So let me get this straight... You blindly send guys to an address and don't give them any instructions on how to contact the client in case of a problem such as a gate? Clearly we are off to a great start. The guys come in and start moving. One of the "movers" was wearing flip flops. Way to show up, look professional, and be ready to move quickly and be productive... Not. Only 15 minutes into the move did I realize that these guys were going to move as slow as humanly possible, I'm guessing because I was paying by the hour. I asked the guys if they could speed it up a bit and they acted shocked I wasn't okay that they wanted to take it easy. They complained about how Chris (their boss) had been running them ragged and they just finished up a huge job the night before. Cigarette breaks were not uncommon throughout the whole day. I understand you are tired but I am paying you my hard earned money to do a job for me and #1 you're not doing it and #2 you are complaining the whole time. I called Chris and told him that his guys were not moving quickly and he said that he would speak to them and get them to speed up. When we finally arrived at the new place to unload, I was more than fed up and aggravated. I ended up doing a lot of the heavy lifting and moving myself. These guys would take 1 pillow at a time inside the house and up the stairs. Movers I have worked with in the past move quick and carry a lot.. They are eager to get to the next job! Not these guys. 1 item at a time and as slow as they could. After one of their cigarette breaks, they asked my fiancé to go to the gas station and get some gatorades for them. What outdoor manual labor worker doesn't bring their own cooler with drinks? I finally get back on the phone with Chris to let him know what was going on and after I hung up, the guys start telling me how much of a liar and a crook he is and that they work so hard and he doesn't pay them enough. Seriously? I DONT CARE! Clearly this guy is a jerk but just finish the job so I can pay you and you can leave!! I finally gave up. There were so many boxes left just sitting in the garage labeled "bedroom" and "kitchen" but they were taking up pillows instead. We ended up carrying all those boxes up ourselves. I was done. I counted up the hours and decided what I thought was fair to pay these guys. I gave him the money and he told me that he was going to keep X amount for a tip but not to tell Chris. Chris called me later on complaining that I had shorted him. How about take it up with your "employee" who kept some of the money as a tip when I never told him to?? Better off spending the extra money on a different company.
