| - I actually felt pretty nervous and intimidated going into a gun range, but Target Sports Canada made my first time shooting super comfortable and I had an awesome adrenaline-filled experience there
I was surprised to see so many people on a Sunday afternoon - didn't know gun ranges were this popular! Luckily, since I came with a large group, we were able to book a time slot, allowing us to avoid the whole drop-in process. Before shooting, you have to attend a mandatory mini safety session in a classroom-like setting, where an employee discusses the do's and don'ts of shooting, and the different parts of the gun etc. Super thankful for this, because it definitely made me feel more comfortable and aware. I've had friends that have no experience go to gun ranges and skeet shooting in the States, and some of their stories are a bit concerning because they were just allowed to go into the range with no formal instruction on how to handle the gun.. (THANK YOU CANADA for being more strict)
But anyways, after the session, you have to put on ear mufflers and eye goggles before going into the actual range - they also have ear plugs as well if you want to wear both. You're instructed to stand behind a line at all times if you're not shooting. And every time you're done shooting, you must place the gun back down on the table. The whole time you're shooting, an employee stands right beside you, instructing on how to hold the gun, your posture etc. I really appreciated this since this made me feel so much more at ease. You also get to keep the targets that you shot!
This probably wouldn't be a regular activity for me. But if I were to go to a gun range again, I'd definitely come back and recommend other beginners to go here!
