| - OMG OMG is all I can say. Took my husband there about 4 pm one evening because he was experiencing chest pains. It was almost 11 PM when he checked himself out against their recommendation. They had run all the tests, a LOT, EXTREME LOT, of waiting with nothing happening. They suggested he spend the night so they could have him do a stress test in the morning. Lol. He said I can do that at my regular doctors office, obviously I'm not dying. While I was sitting there with our son I was casually making small talk with the other people. One poor man had been there since 10 AM that morning and it was about 9:00 when they were releasing him. Another elderly man had been there since 11:00 AM and was waiting on a room to be admitted. They came about 7 PM and a couple signatures were secured and he was assured a chair was coming and when we left at 11:00 PM he was still sitting there. I know animals get treated better than this! Someone in the waiting room mentioned that there was only one doctor on staff. By now I felt very close to half the people in the waiting room, learned why they were there, seen pic's of their kids etc., unnecessary! Yesterday I got a bill in the mail for over $1,700. I flipped. hmmm u may say, that's not much for an emergency room. You're right, the total amount billed to our insurance was almost $11,000 which is totally ridiculous. But, according to my insurance my co-pay is $125.00. Needless to say, there was a lot of anxiousness felt by me until I could get in touch with my provider this morning. They explained that basically by sending this bill to me Sunrise had violated it's contract with BCBS and yes my total bill should be $125.00. They further explained that they had contacted Sunrise for an explanation of some of the charges (you go BCBS!) and more than likely this caused them to come after us rather than submit the documentation to the insurance company. Trust me, I have read the YELP reviews for all hospitals in Las Vegas now and this will definitely never be on our list of places to go again unless it's the only one standing.
