| - Let me start off by saying I used to work here several years ago as a vet assistant. That being said, there is no other place I would take my cat to board. I just got a kitten recently, and the next time me and my husband go on vacation this is where we will be taking him.
This is why:
1.) Everyone who works here loves cats, this is their passion. I have worked at other vet clinics in the past (ones that take care of both dogs and cats), and guess what? Those other clinics have employees (yes, atleast a few) that not only don't like cats, they seem to hate them. Why would I ever take my cat somewhere that has people working there who hates cats? Therefore, this is the only place I would ever trust to care for my cat, whom I love.
2.) This is optional (you don't have to let your cat roam around if you don't want to), but everyday they rotate the cats so that they get play time in their huge cat boarding room. There is plenty of toys for cats to play with, and the employees will even play with your cats so they get plenty of interaction. All I know is that if I were a cat, I would prefer some play time. They even have clear glass windows so you can view inside the boarding room if you are in the main receptionist area, so you can see what I mean.
3.) They will medicate your cat while boarding here if he/she has a medical condition with care and love. Even though they are closed on the weekends they ALWAYS have a doctor or a vet tech/assistant come throughout the weekends to medicate your cat, as well as clean the cages, give food/water, and they let the cats get some play time in.
4.) This the cleanest (and odor free) veterinary establishment I have worked at and ever been to (and as I said above, I have worked at several veterinary clinics, so just trust me on this). Seriously, they clean out the cat boarding room twice a day, along with the cages. There isn't fur flying all around or any horrid odors. They have a maid come everyday to help clean the whole establishment (though the vet assistants/techs also help out and clean with a cheerful attitude). A couple times a year they even steam clean the cages.
Other reasons as to why this establishment rocks:
- They don't use excessive or unnecessary force/restraint on your cat if it's not needed. When a cat needs any form of restraint they have some cloth/leather gloves they will hold your cat with (gently), or they will put your cat in a little towel burrito, where your cat is comfortable and yet still able to receive any necessary medical treatment. Other clinics (yup, the ones that take care of both cats and dogs) have NO CLUE about restraining cats properly, gently, and with care. It's as if cats are an alien race to them altogether, seriously, I kid you not.
- The doctors here are very professional, and they treat each patient with the time needed and tender care, and they are very dilligent. In most other places I have worked at it feels like a factory, where the doctors just don't even care about their patients after awhile and they try and rush to get on to their next case.
- They have a proper isolation room FAR away from the boarding room (for patients that are contagious/very sick). They also use every precaution to sanitize themselves before leaving that room.
- If your cat has long hair and needs a sanitary shave or a lion shave, this is the place to go. I personally never got the knack for doing this, but they have a few girls that are gifted in the art.
- If your cat (he/she) needs a dental or any other medical procedure, they use the proper form of anesthesia, and they also do blood work before putting your cat under (which I always recommend, since you never know what medical condition your cat/animal may have until actual blood work is done).
- My mom still takes her cats here, which I'm glad for, because taking your cat to a clinic that also takes care of dogs can be traumatizing to your cat. At other clinics, do you think they separate the dogs and cats from each other when they go into the back to get treated? Nope. That being said, I work during the week days and so I haven't been able to take my new kitten here yet to get shots (so I have gone to the clinic closest to me), though if there is anything medically wrong with him, then I will be taking him straight to All About Cats.
