| - While certainly one of your more upscale Mexican restaurants in town, Cantina 1511 has lived up to my expectations on a regular basis and has become a regular spot for me when I need to get my fix of imported draft beer, chips and guacamole, or a nice margarita.
I've been here quite a few times and have had brunch, dinner, and even takeout (Pro Tip: use the takeout spot right in front of the restaurant to make a speedy getaway). Some of my favorite dishes include the guacamole which they mix fresh by the table side, the chicken tortilla soup, and any selection of the tacos (Marco Polo is always a solid choice). They also have a fun brunch menu I suggest checking out if you are interested, which is impressive considering all of the competition close by. The space is large and can accommodate both large and small parties and I would recommend reservations during peak dinner times.
I will admit that service here can be hit or miss from time to time. During my most recent experience, my wife and I went to sit on their patio to enjoy the nice weather with a beer and some guac. I realize it was towards the end of the day on a Sunday, however our waiter often went MIA and seemed like he couldn't care less about us. This was an abnormal experience for us here, so I didn't penalize my overall score. I do plan to be back and hope to try more of their menu in the future.
