I took my mother here almost two weeks ago for afternoon tea as a treat for Mother's Day and I have to say both of us were quite impressed. I am celiac and was beyond thrilled that the Windsor Arms was able to accommodate my request seeing as many other tea places I was scouting don't even seem to list any gluten free modifications. I chose the chickpea fritter option and not sandwiches on gluten free bread.
I was especially pleased with the selection of fancy hats that were available to wear for a donation of $5 for the Look Good Feel Better charity they support, benefitting women with cancer. My server informed me of this fee at the beginning and I was more than happy to support a great cause.
Both teas we chose, The Tibetan Tiger and Masala Chai were amazing and I couldn't even finish my pot. My mother and I each got our own separate selection of scones, sandwiches (fritters in my case), and petit fours. I found everything all together was quite filling and did not leave hungry. I even at one point dropped one of my fritters flat out on the floor (how embarrassing!) and my server gladly brought me two new ones even though I didn't ask. The gluten free scones and petit fours were also pretty good.
Before wrapping up our meal our server brought my mother out a separate dessert with candle and she was quite happy about that. All in all, my mother and I finished well before our two hour time slot and did not feel rushed out at all. I would recommend this place to others as it is a beautiful venue and is also very accessible to transit and great shopping in Yorkville as well.
