With the $100 seats I was expecting a little more - more legroom (Air Canada steerage class is roomy by comparison), more climate control, better acoustics - and I was definitely expecting a better theatre going public. What has happened to theatre where people think that it's OK to slurp the last of their soda with a straw or to dig to the bottom of their crinkly bag of almonds throughout the show. I'm not a theatre snob, I go to 3 or 4 shows a year at the most, but I always thought that a theatre is not a movie - that you don't need to stuff your face at every opportunity.
But it's really the fault of the theatre itself - they're selling and encouraging you to crinkle. They sell the damn almonds - of course you're going to eat it in your seat.
I didn't care much for the show either - Arcadia - but that is personal preference. I'm sure a lot of people enjoyed it. But I do care that I spent almost $220 for 2 tickets (with the mandatory ticketking charge upon charge) just to listen to people eating...
