I went to Bonfyre due to a request from my parents, and I'm not sure I ever would have gone there otherwise... Not because it looks shady or anything, but for some reason it was just not on my radar. It is located right off the beltline, and just never caught my interest.
I am glad I got to try Bonfyre. The decor is nice, it is a bit more mid range in price, and has quite a few interesting offerings. I ordered the lamb burger with asian slaw. We also ordered the seafood appetizer. The seafood was wonderful! I don't think I ever ate such big chunks of Calamari, and it was not chewy at all - which I appreciate.
The lamb burger was topped with tzatziki sauce, shredded cucumber, and red onion. The shredded cucumber was a bit overkill as it was piled on a little too high. I disliked. A couple or few fresh slices would have been plenty and would have balanced the flavors with a crisp freshness. Instead the shreds were soft, mushy, and had no crunch.
The lamb itself was wonderfully cooked and the burger bun they used was perfect for the dish.
All around an ok experience. I wouldn't mind trying a few other offerings from the menu.
