| - So after living here for a year, I feel I can now give an honest opinion of Skysong of the pro's and con's of living here. I did enjoy living here for the year but at the same time little nuisances would prompt me not to live here again or at least in different circumstances which is why I gave it 3 starts.
Pro's
-Great location close to everything
-Noise level The hallways and the apartments in general are pretty quiet going around and the apartments have pretty good insulation from outside noises (except people walking and talking by your door)
-Nice amentities in the apartment. Faux wood vinyl flooring, stainless steel appliances, quiet washer/dryer, nice countertops, shower, grey painted walls
-Studio sized apartment has a bedroom instead of one big square!
-The front office staff is AWESOME! They all know your name, have conversations with you, and are just very nice. The best is Brenda!
-The club house is nice and spacious with lots of tv's to use and comfortable reclining chairs and a full kitchen and coffee maker. I did my homework in here a lot and its open 24 hours!
-Indoor parking garage parking
-Nice sized pool, hot tub, and a fire pit!
-Gym is a very good size and has a good assortment of equipment
-Never had a bug in my apartment!
Con's
-Expensive. Cheaper then other similar communities but they wanted to charge me over $1k for a studio sized apartment. Floors scratch easily too in the units!
-Noise level which depends on where you are at the building. Avoid the units close to the pool and close to the garage. The pool can get VERY noisy during holidays (like 4th of july) and by the garage there is always people doing the annoying fast and furious peel out down the street, and the lower income housing across the street always have parties, crying/screaming kids at all hours of the day
-I can only speak to the studio sized apartment but since the A/C filter/fan is right in the middle of the apartment, you always hear it turn on and off which is pretty noisy (quieter then other apartments though!) and i would always have to turn up the TV when it turned on. Second thing is that i couldn't get my apartment any colder than 74 degrees even when its set at 70. Not sure if it was an issue with my a/c but i heard other people had problems with theirs also but when it gets very hot outside and everyone is cranking up their a/c, your unit will freeze and your a/c will stop working (last summer every person a/c broke)
-Parking garage. The gates are ALWAYS BROKEN!!! Its quite amazing how they can't figuire out how to keep them from getting broken and they don't fix it often enough. Although people do drive pedal to the medal in the garage, the speed bumps are so high and obnoxious they can DESTROY your car should you forget where they are at considering they are painted black and blend in with ground and are around blind corners
- The community is falling apart. Its dirty and stains everywhere and you can tell maintenance doesn't care or do anything around the community
-Maintenance takes FOREVER to come fix issues and sometimes doesn't even fix the problem. I had them come out 4 times to fix my fan and it never got fixed. My lock didn't really work without jimmying the door and I just didn't want to deal with maintenance to get it fixed since i already had them come out 2 times for it to never be fixed.
-Access to the community. If you have guests, its super hard for them to get in to see you. If they don't have a keyfob, they are SOL and you have to let them in. If you forget your keyfob in your apartment, you are SOL. I've locked myself out of the community or in the garage countless times and every door into the community has keyfob locks. Its like a fortress. And the office won't let you get another one because of "security". So family can't get one. You cant have an extra in case you don't have the other one. Stupid.
-The hallways aren't cooled because its an open design building and during the winter its freezing cold. Not exactly a con just an interesting choice of design
-They scare you with fees for about everything for a sense of control over their residents. They charge for valet trash and pest control. I never had pest control come to my unit but i got charged for it every month.
