  • Like the last review, I saw an ad on Letgo and contacted Jealousy Auto. Redd, as he called himself (and is possibly also his real name) was very charming and polite. While this might sound positive, don't let that part fool you, his charm disarmed me into buying the Buick Rendevous without asking the questions that I should have. I'm at fault for not asking those questions, but Redd lied to me. When my boyfriend and I test drove the car the check engine light was on. We asked him if he knew that and that we weren't interested in buying the vehicle without that being fixed. He told us his mechanic was due in, in the morning -- in fact, he called his mechanic right in front of us on speaker phone, and he was told the thermostat was broken, causing the check engine light. I know, from past experiences, that a check engine light can be reset without actually fixing the problem, however, we trusted Redd would fix the problem. He neglected to call back, and honestly we should have taken that as a sign and moved on, and thinking back on it I wish we had! We didn't, he called us back (after we called him) and said we could come see the vehicle, and when we did we were prepared to buy in cash -- which is all he accepted. We were happy to have the car, and while I thought it was odd that it was particularly dirty for an auto detailing business, I got it detailed at a real professional place and was much happier... until the check engine light came on the VERY NEXT DAY. My boyfriend and I aren't the type to quickly jump the gun and call, and blame, and get angry. Instead, we made an appointment, brought it in, and learned what the REAL cause for the check engine light was: the catalytic converter. When we called Redd to tell him about what we learned, he told us that we could pay HIS mechanic to fix things for $500 cheaper than we were quoted by the mechanic we actually trust. In the end, we went with our own mechanic because what rational person gives the mechanic that supposedly fixed it the first time $500 more to screw them over again? Not me. It was a lesson in a lot of different areas, but most of all it was a lesson that people like Redd, the owner of Jealousy Auto, will use an opportunity when you give it to him to screw you over. Definitely do not do business with him.
