  • I've stayed at this hotel on several occasion for the Adult Baseball World Series, as well as when I came to watch the Padres and Diamondbacks for a weekend series. I had pleasant experiences in the past, however this last trip was pretty bad. I checked in on Thursday, September 29th at 4pm. I was greeted by a nice young lady who offered me cookies and coffee. She told me all about the great amenities the hotel. I walked to my room (#221), opened the door. As soon as I opened the door, I smelled the disgusting smell of vomit. I called the front desk and they said they would send housekeeping to fix the problem. I went down to the pool for about an hour and returned to my room. The room smelled pleasant. I believe housekeeping sprayed fabreeze or a similar product on the carpet. About two hours later, the smell was back. The smell was causing me a headache so I decided to find out where it was coming from. After about five minutes, I found the smell to be coming from the kitchen sink. Apparently the guest before me threw up in the sink and didn't run the sink long enough. I ran the hot water for about 10 minutes and the smell went away. Another issue I had was that on two separate occasions, my room keys stopped working and I had to walk to the front desk to get them reprogrammed. I keep my room keys in my wallet, so the whole cellphone theory doesn't apply. One of the things I liked about staying here in the past was the availability of coffee in the lobby. On more than one occasion during this stay the coffee was empty. On the last day, I really wanted a cup of coffee before my baseball game and it was empty. The gentleman at the front desk told me he would have to start a new coffee pot and it would be at least 10 minutes before the coffee would be ready. In my opinion, that is unacceptable. I was at the hotel for three nights and only had maid service once. I left for my baseball games for 6-8 hours at a time. Admittedly, I did tell the maids not to bother when I got back because I was tired, in the sun all day, and didn't want to leave my room or sit there while the maids cleaned. Again, unacceptable. One of the strangest occurrences during my stay was that every 20 minutes or so, the phone would ring once and only once. I answered the first few times and finally just took the phone off the hook. When I hung the phone up, it started happening again, including in the middle of the night. Lastly, on two separate occasions, I went to the pool and there were no towels available. When I called the front desk, they gave me attitude. One of the basic amenities that you should have at a pool are: pool, water in the pool, chairs, and towels... Again, it took 15 minutes before somebody brought towels. I expected much more from this property and was disappointed in how much it's gone downhill. I could have paid half and stayed at a lesser hotel and probably had a better experience. I'm coming back next month because I prepaid and hope my experience is better.
