  • Lovely museum - well worth an hour or three The museum is divided into three buildings all of which are connected underground. The entrance is currently into the 'new' museum and if you want to visit the decorative arts or Canadian pavilion you need to go down a couple of floors to get to the rest of the exhibits. The museum is a nice mix of permanent collections and temporary exhibitions. While I was there the Pompeii exhibit was the big draw but I actually found the Partners in Design exhibit on the efforts of Alfred H. Barr, Jr. and Philip Johnson to bring the Bauhaus to MoMA more interesting. Another section of the museum I very much enjoyed this visit was the Canadian pavilion. Last time my weary feet hit the Inuit art and failed to break through. But seeing what Canadian artists were doing from the 1880s through 1960s - a time period in which I am very familiar with the works of European and American artists - was actually rather fascinating. As I said last time, if you are at all thinking about going you should go - it's as simple as that. Even if you only have an hour to spare.
