  • First off, the park is huge! I came here without looking at the park map thinking I'd be able to find the sand vball courts easily. Not so. I drove around to the baseball area (& there's more than one), then walked across the park (20min or so) to find what I was looking for. Sand volleyball: there are six courts here, played on two. The one closest to the gazebo was like playing on gravel, I'm pretty sure I got cut up from that. The second was closer to the major road (but had a large tree & grass buffer area, so you don't need to worry about your volleyball flying into traffic) and it was puuuurrrfect. Soft, fine sand and lots of it! Felt comfortable diving on that court, not so much for the gravel like one. Played vball on a weekday night in September and place was packed. Had to wait a bit for a court to open up. Near the courts there were lots of covered benches and tables for picnics, etc. lots of families, and there was a kickball game going on nearby too. I would feel totally safe bringing my kids there to play and hang out. Generally, outside the actual fields/courts, the park is not lit well at night (there was a lot of walking areas & picnic areas that were totally dark). The playgrounds also weren't lit at night, but I still saw kids and families on the equipment late at night (~10pm). But I felt somewhat safe walking around because 1) I had my dog with me, and 2) the other park goers were friendly. I'd recommend for the walking areas to be better lit at night for safety and so you can see where you're walking! Dog park: there are three well kept & large areas with lots of grass, and covered sitting areas with benches and picnic tables. Also plenty of dog water fountains to fill up your dogs bowl. There are two "small dogs" areas and one large dog area. Wish there was a mix of large and small dogs instead of two small dog areas, bc my retriever is big but prefers playing with the littler ones!
