| - The food here is awesome, no doubt. But the customer service was really disappointing. Our server was initially rude and wouldn't let us reject a bottle of wine we didn't like after tasting it. Why pour us tastes if we can't say that we don't like it? But he honestly just seemed inexperienced. He also didn't seem to know the wine list very well. I was upset so I spoke to a manager and she was very nice and she remedied the situation by bringing us a different bottle of wine.
But then the service just continued to suck. The worst part of the night for me was when a waiter actually made a comment about how much meat I had on my plate as he was clearing plates. He said "You're really saving up over there!" or something like that. Really dude?! It's an all-you-can eat steakhouse. I was grabbing as much meat as I could because we came in around 8:30 (still plenty of time before closing) and we felt like we were being rushed out the entire time. We only saw most cuts once, and a few cuts never even made it to our table which is fine, but I'm going to take as much as I can get if I feel rushed. But it just felt really unprofessional for a waiter to make a comment about how much a customer is eating.
Then we had several waiters come by our table and try to rush us out almost as soon as it was almost 10:00. I know that they close at 10, so obviously we needed to get going, but it was a little excessive. Don't waiters have sidework they could be doing instead of pestering customers? There were still other customers eating, we weren't the last to leave. I paid so the server would get out of my hair and he made some comment about "letting the cashier get out of here" and then he made another snarky comment about the cashier needing to leave after I had already paid when he came back to pick up my signed check. To make things worse, he actually snatched my half-full glass of wine as he was leaving. My boyfriend was shocked.
So, I feel like Fogo de Chao is the kind of place where everyone from every income bracket comes at least once for a special occasion. I'm a teacher, I don't make a lot of money, but I took my boyfriend here for his birthday, and I wanted it to be special for once. I spent almost $200 on the check, which is more than I would ever normally spend at a restaurant and I feel like when you spend that much you want to be treated like any other customer. Other than the manager, who was nice, everyone on the staff was pretty rude to us. And we shouldn't have come at 8:30, but if you're going to be rude and rush people out the door, don't accept customers past 8:00.
