| - I headed over to The Ossington on a Friday night and it was definitely a great time. The atmosphere, the music, and the crowd (even the bouncer) all made for a great night.
We got there a little bit before 10:30pm and the place seemed pretty empty to me. Little did I know that everyone was crammed on the dance floor in the back room.
The drink prices were pretty standard. Mixed drinks were $7. Although I decided to opt out of the beers that night, they did appear to have a pretty good selection on tap. Not sure how much the round of tequila shots were, but they were using the cheap stuff, so I'd say maybe $5 or $6 per shot?
The dj that was spinning that night had a bunch of my favorites (old school rap/hip hop and a touch of old school reggae mixed in with some of the new). The dance floor was packed, but it was a great time to be had by all. Tired of dancing? There is plenty of seating available throughout the whole place.
At about 11, the place really started to fill up. With that, come a couple of my tiffs with this place:
-One of the bartenders felt that re-stocking (overflowing) a very full shelf glasses was more important than serving the copious amounts of people waiting at the bar. The bartenders seem to love leaning up against the back of the bar so much more than serving patrons. You really need to flag them down if you need something because they won't come up to you. They also don't smile. Hipsters just hate smiling, don't they?
-If you're going to serve cheap tequila for shots (Sauza), it should probably be served cold. Our bartender seemed to think that cheap and warm tequila shots would be okay... it's not.
-Someone had spilled their glass on the dance floor and it shattered into a million pieces. Although the staff was notified, no one came by to clean it up. It happened at about 12am and I closed the place out at 2am- the glass shards were still lying there.
Aside from the little things mentioned above, I still think I'd come back. Service is a little subpar, but the music is really good and so is the crowd. I can overlook some of the bad stuff.
